Scientific and theoretical basis
Patient satisfaction score is a quality indicator that quantifies the patient experience and is widely used in quality management.
Formula and Logic
Satisfaction Score (%) = Number of Positive Responses / Total Number of Responses × 100
In satisfaction surveys, the ratio of positive (satisfied/very satisfied) responses to total responses is calculated. (Different methodologies like NPS can also be used.)
How is it interpreted?
A high score indicates a positive experience; however, the score should not be interpreted alone but in conjunction with open-ended feedback and complaint analyses.
Considerations
The sample size and representativeness of the survey are critical; a low response rate can lead to biased results. Regular measurement is recommended with patient experience management processes.
